What to do if your ballot is rejected
Under New Jersey law (NJSA 19:63-17), if the Board of Elections cannot match your signature on the return envelope to the signature on file, your ballot is not automatically thrown out. You have a right to cure the signature.
- The Board of Elections must mail you a cure letter within 24 hours of rejecting your ballot.
- You have until 48 hours after the polls close to submit a signed cure form confirming the ballot is yours.
- Track your ballot at voter.svrs.nj.gov/ballot-track so you see a rejection the moment it happens.
- Call Burlington County Election Services at (609) 265-5229 if you receive any rejection notice.
Do not assume your ballot was counted. Track it.
